Why I created an online course for web designers

Hey, I’m Lou — the human behind Nomadic Business Blueprint. 👋🏼

I’m a freelance web designer and digital marketer who’s spent the last 13+ years working remotely from across Australia and 30 other countries (so far!). Often with our staffy, Quinn, snoring next to me while I tap away at client websites and SEO plans. 🌏

It sounds like a dream, right? And honestly, parts of it were dreamy. But a lot of the time? I was overwhelmed. Exhausted. Stuck in a cycle of deadlines, email threads, unpaid admin, and never-ending to-do lists.

I had built a business that looked good from the outside — but behind the scenes, I was drowning.

The Moment Everything Snapped

When I became a mum, the cracks really started to show. #Yikes 🥴

Suddenly, I didn’t just feel tired — I was completely wiped out. Every moment I wasn’t looking after a tiny human, I was knee-deep in emails, invoices, and the mental load of a business that no longer felt like mine.

The “freedom” I’d created? It had quietly vanished.

I didn’t need to work harder. I needed to work differently.

So I stepped right back. I rested. I questioned everything. And (very) slowly, I started again — this time, with intention.

And what came out of that season? Was a fresh business. A better one. A simpler, more spacious version of everything I’d once dreamed about. I was finally in love with my business again! 🙌🏽

And eventually — the idea for an online course for web designers who felt exactly like I had before I cracked the code.

I’d Been Doing It All Along

Here’s the funny thing — I’d already spent years helping clients simplify their own businesses. As their go-to web designer / digital marketing / social media expert / business wing woman, I was streamlining, automating, and cleaning up messy systems every single day.
